A little background info for those unfamiliar with this car taken from Wikipedia...
The Toyota Celica GT-Four is a high performance model of the Celica liftback, with a turbocharged 3S-GTE engine, and full-time AWD. It was created to compete in the World Rally Championship, whose regulations dictate that a manufacturer must build road-going versions of the vehicle in sufficient numbers. These vehicles are referred to as "homologation special vehicles".
The Celica GT-Four came in three generations; ST165, based on the fourth generation Celica, and manufactured between October 1986 and August 1989; ST185 produced from September 1989 to September 1993; and ST205 from February 1994 to June 1999.
The Celica GT-Four rally cars were prepared by Toyota Team Europe in Koln, Germany.
The Celica GT-Four ST165 made its World Rally Championship (WRC) debut in the 1988 Tour de Corse, but the first WRC victory came in 1989 Rally Australia. The ST185's maiden WRC was in the 1992 Safari Rally, and won four events in that year. The ST185 is Toyota's most successful rally car. It won the WRC Driver's Championship in 1992, and the WRC Manufacturer's and Driver's Championships in 1993 and 1994. The ST205 came in late 1994, and became official rally car in 1995 with one WRC victory. It also won the 1996 European Rally Championship.
The significance of the Toyota Celica GT-Four in WRC history, previously dominated by European manufacturers, is that it was the first time a Japanese car manufacturer entered the WRC with an AWD turbocharged car and took trophies and won races. Since then other Japanese manufacturers have been successful in the WRC. Toyota preceded Mitsubishi (Lancer Evolution and Galant VR-4) and Subaru (Legacy and Impreza). Unfortunately, while Subaru are still currently campaigning with their latest iterations of the Impreza in the WRC, Toyota exited to concentrate their racing efforts in Formula One.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Leather interior, sunroof, and System 10 Premium Sound System are optional on '90–'92 All-trac, and standard on '93 All-trac. With its sport-style interior, power-operated driver's seat, auto tilt-away steering wheel, and cruise control as standard equipment, the All-trac was the most expensive Celica yet. With a 2.0 L turbocharged 3S-GTE producing 149 kW (200 bhp) and 200 lb.ft of torque, it was the most powerful Celica ever sold in the USA.
This is a very rare car with no more than a few thousand in North America Ever. I was told by a salesman at the local dealership that Toyota only allotted one per dealership MAXIMUM! When I wanted to buy one for myself the salesman at the dealership said to give up looking! He'd only ever seen one!
The bottom line is my daughter is too big to sit in the back seat without complaining. I'm going to end up getting an SUV (Side note: If anyone's selling a Landrover Discovery II I may be interested)
The car is a 1990. Everything is factory except the audio system(which has been upgraded). The body has some rust which can be seen in the photos. The tires have about 50% tread left (best guess). I'll try to provide as many details as I can. Email rupertrick@gmail.com with any questions. Also check out Alltrac.net for more information on Celica Alltracs. I drive this car so the mileage will be slightly higher than listed. The car is also for sale locally, so I'm reserving the right to end this auction early.
THE GOOD
Power Windows.
Power locks.
Tilt Wheel.
Wireless radio remote + remote on steering column.
Fog lights.
The engine is factory and it has not been abused or raced to my knowledge.
New radiator.
New heater core.
New Emergency brakes.
Clutch master cylinder replaced at 150,000 miles.
New clutch and flywheel resurfaced at 151,000 miles.
Climate control with thermostat works.
Upgraded pair of front drive shafts will be included (current ones work fine)
Sounds like a concert hall on wheels with Sony Mobile ES head unit, Cerwin Vega midrange drivers in front, Crossfire8" subs in the doors, Blaupunkt midrange drivers in the rear near seats, and Rockford Fosgate Punch amp driving it all. This car came with 10 speakers from the factory including 8" subs in the doors.
Drives great. Rock steady at 100mph. I haven't had it much faster than that. I rarely drive more than 80mph.
New exhaust flex pipe
THE BAD
170k miles
Turbo boost gauge moves a bit, but doesn't seem to translate to added power. Not sure what's wrong exactly. My mechanic says it is most likely a vacuum leak.
Air bag is disconnected. It was that way when I got it. The previous owner was unaware that it was disconnected.
The title comes up as Salvage on a vehicle history report. It was disclosed to me by the previous owner. I don't have any details on this matter other than what I am able to pull up from the Vehicle history report below. Upon inspection I am unable to find any problems that would lead me to believe that it was significantly damaged other than what it says in the report.
Cruise control quit working about 50k miles back.
AC needs recharged.
My mechanic says it needs a new steering rack which is about a $700 job. It steers fine if you top off the fluid about once a week.
Check engine and ABS lights sometimes come on.
Hole in the leather on driver's seat.
Power lumbar works, but the squeezer things on the side do not. I think it just needs a new control switch.
Needs some new paint. I was quoted a couple thousand at a local place, and that included fixing the rust spots. MAACCO might be a little cheaper.
It's been a terrific car. I'm really going to hate to see it go. If you're looking for a car nobody else has, then this is a terrific choice. I've only ever seen three others on the road in the last 15 years. With some added effort this type of car can produce in excess of 400HP!! It also drives great in ANY weather. I ran studded snow tires on it in the winter time. It is absolutely unstoppable!
